Derbyshire Wildlife Trust aims to establish Woodside nature reserve as a community farm for wildlife and people to enjoy. Farming this site will provide the best possible conditions for wildlife and we will provide all sorts of interesting things for people to do and see.
It ran from 12:00 AM, 1 April 2012 to 12:00 AM, 1 March 2015
Registered Charity in England and Wales (222212)
The land has been poorly managed for years and as a result the wildlife has suffered. We need to improve the grassland, woodland and wetland present so that it's in the best possible condition to attract a wide range of species. Thousands of people live locally and use the site for recreation and access to fresh air and we need to offer them some great events, activities and fun in the natural environment.
We will manage the land in a wildlife friendly farming manner and reach out to other landowners far and wide to take a look at what we are up to and try some ideas themselves. There will be lots of things for people to do and see: paths and trails, sculpture, observation towers, wild barns and classrooms and all sorts of volunteering opportunties to enjoy.
