Education is the key to sustaining healthy communities and habits, which is why Blue Ventures provides educational scholarships to more than 100 children each year. Your donation can help some of Madagascar’s poorest children gain the education they need to improve their lives and their communities.

    Situation

The fishing villages along Madagascar’s south west coast are some of the poorest communities on Earth. The majority of households have no electricity, no running water, and most villagers have never had a formal education and cannot read or write. Blue Ventures provides educational scholarships to more than 100 children each year in the village of Andavadoaka, south west Madagascar. Now, neighbouring communities are asking that their children also be given the chance to attend school. With your support more children and more communities can benefit from the power that comes from a good education. With a donation of £20, a child will receive a full year’s scholarship along with books, pencils and other supplies needed for classes. A portion of your donation also goes toward Andavadoaka’s children’s environmental programme, Club Alo Alo (meaning barracuda). Through the club, children learn about marine resources and the importance of protecting them. The children of Alo Alo regularly present plays and musicals to the village about the dangers of over-fishing and other practices that harm ocean habitats. Through Club Alo Alo and the scholarship program, you are giving the children of the Andavadoaka region the skills they need to improve their lives and their communities, and to ensure local marine resources remain healthy and productive for generations to come.
