Every day, girls are forced to walk for miles to fetch water for their family. In the most extreme and remote parts of Rajasthan, India, there is hardly any water at all. Girls as young as eight, they join female siblings and mothers to spend their days in a monotonous and dangerous cycle of drudgery. With no access to education, they know no other life, and so when they inevitably marry too young and have daughters, the cycle begins again. They have no voice, choice or future.

Wells for India works with 50 of the most remote and marginalised villages across Rajasthan, bringing them the gift of capturing monsoon rainwater for year-round drinking water, improving their sanitation, education and livelihoods. Our Water for our Daughters campaign has pledged to support at least one ‘daughter’ with all her water and sanitation needs for just £500, in each of the 50 villages.
