  • "The nature of trauma is shocking. One day you’re one person and the next day you wake up and you’re someone else, and that is really hard to deal with."

Situation

Every hour in the UK, 2 people will die from a catastrophic trauma injury and another 8 will be left with life-changing disabilities. And it can happen to anyone. Many of us have suffered trauma injuries ourselves, or know someone who has. Trauma research saves lives and can lessen long term disabilities. Despite this, less than 1% of medical research funding is awarded to trauma projects.

Solution

Research we have already funded has saved 600 lives in London since 2012. Research saves lives. But there is so much more that researchers want to do - like stopping excessive bleeding, or predicting which patients are likely to suffer organ failure. Money raised will fund research projects being led by QMUL's Centre for Trauma Sciences and Barts Health's Major Trauma Centre at The Royal London Hospital.
