To open a new YOUTH GYM for young people in our area of Nottingham, tackling health, fitness and obesity issues. Specialist Youth Gym equipment, dance mat installations, Wii-Fit, encouagement for new sports clubs, youth targeted aerobic dance classes available alongside youth worker support, healthy eating, cooking skills and wider health information (sexual health, alcohol, drugs, emotional health). We would like to secure set-up costs and yearly costs for 3 years

    Situation

    We are wanting to open a youth gym in the Aspley area of Nottingham which is available to young people from across the City of Nottingham. The gym would be a franchise of a specialist youth gym with full specialist equipment, training and ongoing support. Young people accessing the gym would be encourgaed to do so with the support of trained health and fitness staff, and youth workers would also be present in the sessions in order to engage with young poeple and offer them healthy lifestyle support and advcie ( eg. signposting to drug and alcohol). This is to tackle the growing level of obesity, as we recognise that there are hardly any youth gyms in the Nottingham area Key Features: No monthly memberships, free or small (£1) fee per session. Open to individuals or small groups from 4 - late Open to schools / colleges from 9 - 3.30 Fun and interactive fitness sessions as an alternative to gym equipment Wider youth services complimenting health and fitness Open to drop-in or referral from parents, GP's, other agencies Open from 11-16 year olds in age specific sessions (11-13, 14-16) Project end goals: Increase in number of young people accessing sporting activities Increase in the gym provision available to young people in Nottingham To open a second gym within 3 years in another area Young people being more physically and mentally fit and healthy To train interested young people in becoming gym staff and hopefully providing emplyment opportunities Financial Breakdown: ONE OFF COSTS: £115,000 Youth Gym Franchise (£15,000) Gym Equipment Budget (£100,000) YEARLY COSTS: £120,000 1 x full time experienced / qualified gym worker (£20,000) 2 x part time gym workers (£15,000) 2 x part time youth workers (£18,000) Room hire and rates etc (£40,000) Sundry expenses (£10,000) Insurance (£2,000) Management Related costs @ 10% of total year costs YEAR 2: £123,600 (incl 3% inflation) YEAR 3: £127,308 (incl 3% inflation)
