Socially isolated young people in Merseyside often have nothing to do during school holidays. We are putting on the first ever organised event for young people with disabilities in Merseyside in August 2010.

    Situation

The event is called Chillax Summerfest and is being held at Knotty Ash Community Centre, which is totally accessible and a great place to be! We are providing a variety of activities to give a full element of choice to the young people (aged 13 - 25). They will choose what they want to do following a taster day on Saturday 31 July. After that, the event will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 19 August, followed by a celebration day on Saturday 21 August. There will be dance, music, alternative therapies, food and cookery workshops, art workshops, chill-out zone with large-screen TV, sport, outdoor activities and much more. We are seeking funding for individual workshops (around £500) up to major funding for general costs (including transport, hire of marquees etc) of £4000.
