    Situation

Transitioning from childhood to adulthood in this 21st Century age carries many challenges. The SHINE program has been fashioned to address the many issues of identity and personal esteem Shine is a nine week foundational course, ideally targeted at females in Years 7 or 8. It can be presented as a stand-alone nine-week program, an after school course, a full day workshop or in a reduced format, if a school does not have time for the full nine sessions. The program works well when presented within the school curriculum, in PHSE lessons. Each program presents principles and creates an environment where girls form values, which will become the foundation for them making great decisions and directly impacting their future. At the end of the program, graduates are presented with a comprehensive handbook, and a certificate upon completion. The intent of Shine is to create an environment where girls discover they are valuable; created one-of-a-kind; able to affect the course of their own life; have purpose, significance and much to offer. Our goal is to communicate the truth of WORTH, STRENGTH and PURPOSE to teenage girls to help them successfully navigate from girl-life into womanhood. Shine consists of a foundational personal development program, integrating a practical, inspirational and values-forming approach. Shine presents the truth that every girl has intrinsic value and is somebody. This journey is explored through the concepts of worth, strength & purpose ... •I have worth! - Through skincare, makeup, hair care and nail care, girls discover their value in their uniqueness. •I have strength! - Explores the power of choice in each girl’s life and reinforces the truth that decisions determine destiny. Covers willpower, feelings, peer pressure, problem solving, etiquette and respect. •I have purpose! - Purpose and destiny are examined in the light of looking after themselves; identifying the hopes and dreams they have for their life and the confidence and tools to walk in them. Shining. Finacial support will enable all set up cost, promotional work, equipment, booklets and staffing to be paid for. This is a program that I have seen work and want to see change young girls lives in the UK.
