To build a single storey building extension to provide much needed therapy rooms and out-patient clinic space. This will also give us an opportunity to provide a purpose built education facility to allow us to provide speacialist palliative training to local clinicians.

    Situation

The expansion of therapy support has been incremental within St. Michaels in support of clinical service development. We now provide both hospice based and domicillary service provision with an expanded team. In support of patient choice we are now able to provide more suppport to patients allowing them to remain at home. This is done by many patients being transported into our current building by our volunteer drivers for various out-patient treatments. This new building will increase the therapy space by 250% and allow the team to support more patient treatment episodes. There is a current capital shortfall of £100,000 on a total project cost of £650,000. The project is underway with planning consent granted and the project currently out to tender. It is hoped that we will raise this shortfall in time to be occupying this new facility in January 2009.
