Extratime has grown quickly since having one club in 2003 - we now employ have 100 staff and volunteers and work with over 300 families across five venues in the City. We need to recruit a full time director to provide a strategic overview for the organisation and maximise funding opportunitites to ensure the organisation is sustainable in the long term.

    Situation

By recruiting a director for extratime and by securing funding for the post for the next three years we are putting the organisation in the best possible position to acheive the long term sustainability that is so much needed. The current directors who are the founders of the organisation are both parents of children with complex needs who were frustrated by the lack of childcare for their children and for opportunities for them to enjoy the same play and leisure opportunities as non disabled children. The size of the organisation now and the stage of its develpment requires a more strategic approach and a full time director who can ensure that extratime continues to maximise funding opportunities, managing an ever increasing staff team, develop the outreach, training and consultancy service that will not only increase the choice and opportunity for disabled children in play and leisure in the region but also provide additional non grant income to improve the sustainability of the charity. The funding would cover recruitment, salary and NI contributions for a period of three years.
