    Situation

We want to work with children and young people with sensory impairments and complex needs. This includes severely and profoundly deaf children, and blind children, some of whom also have other physical disabilities, medical conditions, learning disabilities and additional needs. We have delivered short pilot projects with sensory impaired children, and would now like to work with more children over a longer period of time. The children will learn to dance, create their own choreography and their ideas will be used in performance work. We envisage the participants will benefit in the following ways: - increased self confidence - improved communication skills - improved dance skills - improved motor and coordination skills - to have the opportunity to be creative - to develop performance skills - to develop team working skills - to be more comfortable in their environment - health benefits through physical activity - to have the opportunity to meet and work with professional dancers - to have the opportunity to meet other young dancers - to have the opportunity to attend a professional Loop performance in their school, which will be audio described for blind participants One specialist dance class with two tutors costs £160. We are currently fundraising for a workshop and performance project, running for one year, working in two special schools in Kent The total budget for this is £30,000 for a one year project, working with up to 200 disabled children and young people.
