East Sussex WRAS needs to replace two of its ambulances which are now starting to cost too much to repair and maintain. Our Ambulances are the life line of our charity and are a welcome releaf when they appear to help thousands of members of the public each year.

    Situation

Our Eastbourn veterinary ambulance car is old and in need of replacement with a small van. Our Brighton veterinary ambulance transit is also in need of replacement too. We have three transit ambulance and one car in total and they are driven by volunteers travelling over 50,000 miles a year and helping to respond to between 2-3,000 incidents a year. Our main ambulances carry equipment to deal with road casualty deer, animals caught in stock fencing, a marine mammal rescue kit, ladders, lights, first aid and safety equipment as well as cages of various types. They also have a small inflatable boat and more. Without these vehicles we would not be able to rescue the many wildlife casualties which are reported every year. We do not only help the animals but provide welcome comfort and releaf to the members of the public which call us out. We also work along side Sussex Police and some local authorities in dealing with wildlife casualties. Our vehicles have also been featured on local television and nationally on the BBCs Animal 24:7 programme. We would welcome sponsorship and signage on our vehicles. Costs: Each veterinary ambulance will cost approximately £7,500 for a second hand vehicle or £14,000 for a brand new vehicle. Which includes insurance for the first year.
