The Trust has lots of day to day expenses for our volunteer-focussed projects to manage the 32 acres of woodland grounds of Abney Park for heritage, for wildlife, and as a memorial park.

    Situation

We are trying to maintain and diversify the wooded grounds for wildlife, particularly for species and habitats in the London Biodiversity Action Plan. Each year we also develop and implement a small memorial repair and conservation programme. In addition, we maintain several buildings and their interiors including a classroom and Visitor Centre, and disabled toilet. For all of these we identify volunteer-oriented repair and improvement projects throughout the year.

    Solution

Our projects are always directed at solving identified needs, ranging from re-painting and repair of benches, to planting new trees, or from maintaining paths, to keeping areas free of litter.
