    Situation

The Hall dates from 1785 and was built by James Attwood, an iron-master. The setting of the Hall is a good example of a romantic house in landscaped gardens overlooking the works that provided the proprietor's prosperity. Other examples of the period include Matthew Boulton's Soho House overlooking the Soho works, Josiah Wedgwood's house at Etruria and Abraham Darby's at Coalbrookdale. The West Midlands Historic Buildings Trust is a registered Building Preservation Trust; as such, the Trust operates a revolving fund whereby it sells a building upon successful conversion to a new use. A rescue scheme can therefore proceed when total project income is sufficient to cover total project expenditure. The Trust has obtained planning approval and listed building consent for repair and conversion of the Hall into a mix of town-houses and apartments. £250,000 is required to bridge the gap between overall project expenditure and the estimated end-value.
