    Situation

This project, managed by Local Solutions, is a collaboration between the Liverpool Echo, Greater Merseyside Local Education Authorities (LEA’s), Safer Merseyside Partnership and TUC to tackle the problem of bullying. A team of specially trained staff operate the confidential freephone hotline and take calls from victims, parents or from people with information about bullying of children. As well as acting as a listening service, the team provides practical advice and can act as a referral agency. The project is currently receiving over 200 calls a month and has now issued all 350,000 schoolchildren in Merseyside with a small card containing their contact details. Another recent development for the project has been the launch of a new website.
