    Situation

The Rough Sleepers Project came about as a response to the growing number of men sleeping rough on the streets of Bradford. We are working with partner agencies, Yorkshire Housing, Bradford Day Shelter, The Bridge Project and Bevan House to provide a holistic and high support approach to tackling the problem of rough sleeping. Our tenants are offered a flat on the condition that they accept the support which is offered by a dedicated worker from Bradford Cyrenians. They will have to meet with the worker 2 to 3 times per week. All tenants needs are assessed and a support plan is drawn up which is reviewed monthly. External support is brought in for areas which are more specialist such as substance support, health support, counselling and mental health support. The emphasis is put on empowering the tenant to be able to live independently, make their own choices, and reintegrate back into society. The housing related support is offered to the tenants for a 1 year period. At the end of the year all tenants will be assessed as to whether they are ''tenancy ready''. If it is considered that they are ready they will then remain living in their flat as a general needs tenant of Yorkshire Housing. The project is currently only funded for 1 year from February 2009. Any donations will help to keep this project running and help more roofless men to turn their lives around and be able to live more independant and constructive lives.
