Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project provides counselling support to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse throughout Fife. KASP has reached full capacity in the building we currently rent and the building no longer suits our needs. We aim to purchase more suitable premises to enable us to further develop our services throughout Fife and enable a sense of permanency of service.

    Situation

KASP currently has 6 paid and 12 volunteer specialist sexual abuse counsellors yet still has a 6 month waiting list due to volume of clients seeking support. We are unable to expand further due to limited space. We wish to purchase larger and more appropriate accomodation so that we can continue to expand our service and initiate new projects to meet identified need e.g. group worker; male support worker, provision of complementary therapies. The purchase of larger premises would free up rental income to channel into development of the service and would send a message to our client group that we are a stable service that will be alongside them throughout their painful counselling journey. Current premises are unsuitable and we feel it is inappropriate for us to be spending money on the maintenance and any structural changes to rented property as we have no security of permanency. This problem would be remedied if we owned our own premises.
