    Situation

Under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, the Royal Alexandra and Albert School delivers top class boarding education to children from age 7 to 18. Over half the children are boarders with the rest being ‘day-boarders’, who spend an extended day at the school. All children benefit from the many varied facilities and activities that are provided by the school. Since 1758 over 20,000 orphan children have been given a free boarding education at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School to help them make a positive start to their adult life. The school continues to offer places to children who particularly need a boarding education because their home circumstances make boarding desirable. These ‘Foundationer’ places are funded either by the School’s charitable trust or by other charitable trusts. Because the day time education at the school is funded by Surrey County Council, the cost of a boarding place is only just over £10,000 per annum. A grant of c. £250,000 would provide two free boarding places in perpetuity.
