    Situation

This is a new initiative for us and we feel extremely passionate about it and hope your organisation feels the same way. We are looking to build our volunteer programme as we see this an essential resource. We receive at least 2 calls per week from people interested in volunteering at our agency. We would like to be able to offer a structured approach to this work and are therefore applying for funding to support the employment of a full time Volunteer Co-ordinator. Historically we have welcomed volunteers and at least 4 have progressed in to full time employment at Dialdruglink. It has come to our notice that more and more ex clients or ex drug users are making contact exploring ways to work in this area and in their words ‘give something back’. We feel this is an exciting project to provide an opportunity for people who often have been denied opportunities due to their drug use and the difficulties they have faced. This project is needed as our client group are ever evolving and having access to a range of volunteers and a variety of skills, we will be able to meet the changing needs of our clients.
