    Situation

Dalesdown is a dynamic, highly valued residential centre serving many needy groups of mainly young people, all of whom come away having had a truly positive and beneficial experience whilst within the campus. The Centre is currently used to capacity. However to respond to the requirements of the many groups which still want to use the facilities it needs to develop by providing wider facilities. ‘Standing still’ is not an option because, it could lead to stagnation. There are three key facilities within the new development:- 1. A multi-sports hall 2. A self-contained facility for small groups 3. Accommodation for on-site wardens Existing space restricts the range of physical activities available. The proposed multi-sports would greatly improve the scope for exercise & enjoyment. Many groups fully utilise the present accommodation. The considerable demand from smaller groups would be met economically by the facility. With the increasing value of the investment on the site, and the numbers using it, it is essential to have permanent accommodation for the resident wardens. How can you help? By giving towards the phased programme Phase 1: The Sellwood Sports Hall (build commences 11/08/08 – only sufficient funds for ground works at present)-(named in honour of our late chairman killed in a RTA in January last year) £300,000 An indoor hard play area equipped for sports and team games. A big plus for groups, including schools, is the provision of a purpose that can be used all year round, whatever the weather. Ongoing Phases of Building Works to Include… A Separate Self-Contained 24/26 Bed Accommodation Block Well appointed en suite rooms with a large room with kitchen adjacent, providing meeting & dining facilities. The Southern end of the room will have a large open fireplace in rural style. A Seminar / Class Room Located alongside the Sports Hall an activity classroom will provide a field studies centre for Schools, and will act as a small group seminar room. Resident Staff Accommodation A two bedroom flat for resident staff. This will replace the mobile home that only has temporary planning permission that they currently live in. Further Storage Facilities A workshop for the maintenance team, plus storage for the mowers and ground maintenance equipment Additional Cost £1,500,000 Total Cost Of Project £1.8Million
