We want to work with a group of disadvantaged young people in the UK and a group in Africa to help them develop a resource of Global Youth Work Games which will then be used in informal education settings such as youth groups.

    Situation

We have recently met with the Department for International Development who told us that most money in global development education is within schools, which means non-formal education e.g. youth groups are overlooked. This project makes this opportunity accessible for youth groups, who often represent the marginalised in our own society, and who could get a huge benefit from this project.

    Solution

The most cost effective way to raise global awareness and responsibility amongst young people in Manchester, is to work with them in their own youth groups, where they already go. This will help us reach a group of young people who do not often get the chance to engage with ideas around fairtrade, global development, and environmental sustainability.
