We want to develop a comprehensive Education Project which meets the learning needs of our target audiences, builds on the educational work currently undertaken at the Quaker Tapestry and makes the museum accessible to a broader range of users. We aim to maximise the educational potential and benefit of the Quaker Tapestry through exploring and developing ways of making all aspects of the Quaker Tapestry accessible to all age groups in the wider local community and involving these groups in the rich learning opportunities that the Quaker Tapestry can offer.

    Situation

£100,000 would enable us to employ an education co-ordinator who would: ·Co-ordinate and extend the use of the tapestries, publications, archives and artefacts owned by the Quaker Tapestry to make them accessible to, and meet the learning needs of, all sections of the local community. ·Make links with a wide variety of educational establishments and enable them to benefit from the learning opportunities that the Quaker Tapestry can offer. ·Build up links with community groups and other bodies that would be interested in the learning opportunities provided by the Tapestry. ·Foster life long learning through the stories and insights that the Tapestry holds. ·Produce and organise a range of educational resources that can be used by the various groups. · Work in partnership with other local museums, libraries, arts groups and community organisations to broaden the reach and appeal of the project.
