Worthing Churches Homeless Projects (WCHP) is a very professional, award-winning charity that has worked effectively with the homeless and vulnerable in this area for over 15 years. We currently run a day centre and three hostels and assist over 450 individuals each year. The Recovery Project also known as Delaney House after a client who died before this project could be started, was set up two years ago and houses 12 people who are unable to give up or manage their addiction to alcohol or drugs while living on the street. Whilst resident at the project, the clients work with well-trained, experienced staff to develop a contract and - hopefully - fulfil it, so that they are able to return to a sustainable independent life or move to one of our other houses. In the Recovery Project a high ratio of staff to clients is required, which makes this work more expensive than 'dry' houses. We are urgently seeking funding so that this excellent work can continue.

    Situation

We receive some government funding and support from the local community and we work closely with appropriate agencies. However, we have a special project which is urgently in need of funds if we are to avoid closure next spring when lottery funding ends. We need approximately £250,000 per year to run this proect - so any amount towards this would be very well received.
