To create an all inclusive walking opportunity for the able-bodied and people with wheelchairs, prams, buggies, the visually impaired and those experiencing walking difficulties. The walking opportunity would be based in the Vale of Glamorgan and offer a genuine, rural, countryside, and forest located experience.

    Situation

Suitable sites are being identified and shortlisted for their suitablity, in particular the gradients involved and the structural work required to either bring any public rights of way up to a suitable standard or create new footpaths. We would either enter into a partnership agreement with the landowner or seek to purchase/lease the site. Following extensive consultation with all stakeholders the walks would be created to meet their needs. Valeways has an extensive volunteer membership and as much of the labour as feasible would come from community sources including disability and mental health groups. Valeways has been a community charity since 1996 and we want to create a 'wild walk' experience for all whether they be residents of the Vale of Glamorgan, visitors from neighbouring towns, the Valleys, or Cardiff. The funding would allow us to continue our research work, fund the potential purchase/lease of a selected site, untertake the physical works, waymarking, user facilites and publicity.
