We can multiply private sector donations up to fourfold through our Digital Divide fund. And as a result disadvantaged children get to experience the same exciting benefits of learning through technology at home as better off kids take for granted.

    Situation

The e-Learning Foundation runs a Digital Divide fund. Contributors include Government, trusts and charities, private companies and individuals. We can often win match funding from Government as a result as a donation from the private sector, effectively doubling the donation. But it gets better. Our programmes involve schools working with their parents to pool financial resources so that every child has the same opportunity to take a computer home, and in many cases be helped to go online at home. So as a result of a contribution from the school, small but regular donations from those parents who are able to contribute, and a grant from the e-Learning Foundation, we can ensure every child gets the same opportunity to experience 21st century learning - anytime, anywhere. In fact we won't give a grant to a school where there is no support from the parents, even if that support is fairly limited financially. What is important is the principle of being a stakeholder in the childs education. And this allows us to double the value of the grant. Many schools need a lot of help to develop their programmes and our small team of advisers visit schools and meet with Governors and parents to explain how they can all help the children. So please allow us to retain an element of your donation to help pay for our free advisory service.
