    Situation

The project provides relevant and appropriate help to clients in becoming skilled and confident enough to approach the labour market. For these beneficiaries the barriers to overcome are extensive and further exacerbate their exclusion. Many clients are unused to living independently, are ill-equipped for employment and retaining accommodation. Providing life skills training, including budgeting / nutrition / personal care ensures that once independent they can pay rent, feed themselves and look after their general health and wellbeing. Without these skills they are caught in the trap of no home no job and the revolving door of homlessness. For others the project is a means to accessing the alternative services available through our wide network of partners. The Foyer Project has developed a programme content designed to meet the needs of these socially excluded groups which because of its flexibility in approach, open and relaxed atmosphere provides an attractive environment fo the clients to learn appropriate skills and eventually result in employment. Job related skills / career guidance including interview techniques, job search methods form an important part of the programme as they aid and support clients in deciding upon a suitable career path. Training in Basic Skills and Information Technology and one day tasters and / or work placements enable clientss to gain the necessary skills and experience to qualify for employment. Ongoing practical support in the form of advice and guidance is available for a period of six-months once employment is obtained. This ongoing support can only be offered as a result of the ongoing work throughout the life of the project in developing close relationships and is fundamental to ensuring that clients once obtaining employment continue to retain it. Costs involved in running this programme are Staffing: Administrative, Tutors, Health & Fitness Instructors, Management. / Resources / Premises and Equipment
