Rock village hall is an ecofriendly village hall officially opened by the Minister for Climate Change which is a flagship for new community buildings. We wish to add solar energy to power the heat exchangers and water pumps for our ground source energy supply and supply electricity for our lighting.

    Situation

Rock village hall was officially opened in January 2007. It wa recognised as a flagship community building as it contained many ecofriendly features. Because of this it was officially opened by the Minister for Climate Change. The village hall committee, consisting wholly of volunteers, were commended for having the forsight to plan such a hall back in 2000. The hall has achieved a national award(Biffaward) for community buildings. Many organisations visit the hall to obtain advice about planning community buildings. The hall uses ground source energy to heat the building, uses recycled paper to highly insulate the buildidng, used re-usable aggregate for car park and foundations, has cedar wood tiles, uses wood from sustainable sources, uses grey water from the roof for the toilets, uses aluminiium for doors, windows and gutters and downspouts instead of plastic as this material can be recycled if necessary. We would now like to install solar energy to supply electricity to run the heat exchangers and water pumps of the ground source energy and supply electricity for the lighting.
