    Situation

Each year between 10,000 and 14,000 babies and young children are screened for hearing loss within The Elizabeth Foundations first class paediatric facilities in Hampshire. Some of those children will be diagnosed as deaf and their parents will need time and space to come to terms with that sad fact. Our current counselling room is in need of updating to provide safe, relaxed and comfortable facilities to support parents in those first difficult days

    Solution

The knowledge that your child has a sensory disability often overwhelms parents and strips away their joy. The Elizabeth Foundation recognises this and understands that its staff has a duty to break difficult news sensitively, with great skill and empathy, and in the appropriate environment. We will refurbish our counselling room to provide a sanctuary for parents with appropriate facilities and comfort
