    Situation

Activities at the Centre include a youth club run in partnership with Barnardo's, an elderly people's group, mother's and toddlers. There is a Healthy-Eating cafe which provides catering for in-house and external events. There are food-interest and 'Culture Cuisine' groups. The latter encourages sharing of food customs between people from differing ethnic backgrounds. Another initiative is the 'Little Lunch Box' which introduces primary school children to healthy eating by providing a regular daily portion of fruit or vegetables, packed in a lunch box and with nutritional information for parents. This has proved to be very successful and is being copied by the local Primary Care Trust. The premises are also used by other organisations including Sure-Start, National Blood Service, the Primary Care Trust, Citizens' Advice Bureau, the local authority, carers groups (e.g. mental health, partially-sighted), Cubs and Beavers, Weight-watchers, martial arts, dance etc. Facilities include large and small halls which can be joined together, a creche with external play area (secure), a meeting room and a counselling room, as well as the cafe'.
