    Situation

Parent Carers tell us that it is important for them to have a worker they can talk to concerning issues relating to their disabled child, family life or their other children’s issues and feelings. It is also invaluable to them to have the opportunity to meet with other Parents to share experiences and with statutory bodies to shape policy and services. Parent Carers also say that they may receive support for the disabled child, however not for other siblings involved who are taking on a caring role and perhaps not getting the attention they need. We have established that there is a need for support from the point of diagnosis and that those parents are not getting the support they require or are getting too much information at the wrong time. The following will be provided: • 1:1 intensive support service; • individual casework/family work; • advocacy; • advice and information service; • training and group work/activities for Parent Carers
