Situation
Our project works in one of the 3% most disadvantaged communities in the country. Against this backdrop, Caring Together in Woodhouse and Little London is highly successful at engaging with nearly 400 older people. We create opportunities for our members, to enable them to get involved in their local community, in a variety of innovative ways: *Swimming *Walking *Choir *Craft group *Men’s Group *Exercise & dance *Sensory impairment group *Assisted grocery shopping *Befriending (with the help of volunteers) *Therapeutic group work *Intergenerational projects *Coffee mornings in a local high rise block and sheltered housing scheme *Carers’ Group *Day trips *Annual party *Local fundraising events *Benefits advice *help with form filling *partnership work with relevant organisations *Energy efficiency advice With funding for a Neighbourhood Worker post, we could continue to offer direct support and advice to older people ranging in age from 60-100 years old. In addition, we could safeguard our successful group work and develop new opportunities, to enable our members to make the best of their lives, often in very challenging circumstances.
