Nature in Art has a vision for the future and it envolves making more of the building we currently have and creating a new gallery enabling us to provide an outstanding space for art in Gloucestershire. We are involved in planning a new way to use our current galleries and developing two entirely new, linked, developments: - creation of a new wing to provide a flexible space for large displays; improve conservation of art on display; provide better storage; and improve overall to access and facilities - construction of more educational / meeting space to enhance our educational facility and provide better corporate and community hospitality, helping to secure our sustainability.

    Situation

Phase 1 started with the purchase of Wallsworth Hall in 1987 and included a wide range of renovation work. Phase 2 was the building of our education centre and now we are ready for Phase 3 to take us into the next stage of our development. Although the wonderful Wallsworth Hall has been a great home for our collection, over the past 21 years the collection has continued to grow. A few years ago we realised that we would need to enlarge our facilities, not only to house the ever growing collection, but also to be able to provide a high standard of viewing for our growing visitor numbers. The expansion would assist us with art conservation and display - · construction of a new wing, on land already bought for the purpose, would enable us to not only provide an exciting new gallery space, but also enable us to conserve better the art collection on display and in store · improved access (including new lift and toilets, new ramp outside the front door, new display facilities, an "arena" [auditorium-gallery] etc) means more people would be able to visit us. · better facilities would create new opportunities for learning about art, nature & conservation. Nature in Art was opened at Wallsworth Hall, Gloucester, by HRH Princess Alexandra in June 1988 and we were pleased to welcome her back in 2009 to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Opening. An endowment fund of c.£1M has already been established to generate income to cover the added revenue costs these developments will create, but we still need the additional funds to make the project happen. We are proud of the fact that the Trust has never been overspent or borrowed any money and we hope that people will once again support us in our vision for the future.
