Education is the KEY factor to improving the lives of communties decimated by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The need for teacher's accomodation gets overlooked, many live in deplorable condtions. £5000 will build a teacher's family home, 100% of all donations will go into the project as we do not deduct any personal fees.

    Situation

Teachers in Zambia do not have a choice as to where they are sent to teach, though the standard of teaching is high in many areas, they are placed in rural villages where the accomodation is totally inadequate. Having lived in a home with electricity and plumbing, they find their new 'school' house is either a storeroom, tuck shop or classroom, having to use pit-latrine toilets and no showers. The Butterfly Tree's aim is to provide substantial accommodation for teachers and their families. The project will be overseen by a team of dedicated and professional volunteers.
