To support children that have a parent or carer with a terminal illness by providing one to one support and therapeutic group sessions. The group sessions offer a means for children to escape difficult situations at home, express themselves and meet with others that understand what they are facing.

Situation
One in twenty people experience the death of a parent by the age of 16. The terminal illness or death of a parent is a highly stressful event for a child. Studies have continually shown that children often react with uncertainty, fear, guilt or anxiety.
Solution
We support children via one to one & therapeutic group sessions. We also engage with parents & relevant professionals, so that they can support children appropriately. This can positively impact upon a child’s quality of life throughout a parent’s terminal illness by reducing stress levels, enabling them to express themselves, escape difficult situations at home & meet with others that understand what they are facing. It can also reduce the long-term negative consequences of bereavement.
