    Situation

Recovery is a personal journey a process of tackling adverse situations and impacts of negative mental ill health. It involves change, acceptance and a sense of involvement in all areas of your life. The skills and knowledge base that has been identified as being fundamental to the recovery process are: Recovery planning, Person centered planning, Coaching/mentoring/befriending, Self help, Tenacity (tough love & stubbornness), Motivation & negotiation skills, Networking, Community connecting (everyone involved) The benefit of working within the recovery model is the holistic person centered approach which encompasses and focuses on individual needs. This will give added value not just to the person but to the organisation’s existing projects. Service-users will be more involved in their recovery. More people will be able to access services and there will be more interest in the work we do generally, making for a stronger organisation. The way to achieve any kind of recovery for the service-user needs the person recovering to lead the process and take charge; the shift of power goes to the person recovering.
