To develop a youthwork resource centre for the south-west. The project would involve a library, learning centre with training venues and accomodation for conferences offering excellent training and support to youth workers in the south-west

Situation
A Youthwork resource Centre is needed with so little resource in the South-west in terms of resources. To provide a place for youth voluntary leaders and full time youth workers to network and to have access to resources such as books and youth work materials. To provide a conference centre for use in our academic courses up to MA level providing sleeping accomodation and venues for training. This space would also be used for camps etc.. on weekends and school holidays. Currently we have a small office with no library facilities. We hire a christian centre near Bristol as this is the only centre we can find that accomodates up to 100 people even though this is not central to the region. A centre based near Exeter would be ideal as a resource to Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. We have access to a site nr Honiton which if funding was secured we could build on. This project would not only become a resource to youth workers but to churches and youth groups. For more info please contact SWYM on 01392 273 560
