    Situation

Our project provides a volunteer to visit the family at home once a week for 2 - 2.5 hours, and to support the lone parent and their children with dealing with the implications of losing a parent to custody. Children feel that they want to be naughty so that they can go and be with the missing parent, and the other parent is left at home having to adjust, often to losing an income, and dealing with the stress of raising the children alone. Volunteers can also accompany families on prison visits, enabling parents and children to have a less stressful visit and journey. Where offenders have recently left prison, the family recieves support from the volunteer to help adjust back into family life and help with regaining employment etc. Throughout these periods in their lives, we aim to help the children achieve the 5 outcomes of the Every Child Matters framework. We have links with Hull Prison and our project worker spends 2 days a week within the Visitors Centre. We also visit Wolds and Everthorpe Prison and Askham Grange Women's Prison, next year we would like to increase the frequency of theses visits. Amount Range - £50K
