    Situation

£40,000 per annum covers the salary costs and overheads of our development worker. The development worker provides direct support to voluntary and community groups working for the benefit of the district, at anyone time she is working with 35-50 groups. Support includes ; (a) Good governance (b) Governing documents including registration as a charity/ company limited by guarantee or CIC as appropriate.(c) Identifying sources of funding (d) Advice on fundraising including preparing written funding applications, developing business plans, tax effective giving , income generation, service level agreements and procurement.(d) Monitoring , evaluation and outcomes (e)Externally accredited quality assurance. Last year our development worker enabled the districts voluntary and community sector to secure some £1.5 million from charitable trusts alone. The District has pockets of high deprivation but overall does not qualify for central goverment regeneration monies such as Community Empowerment Funds. Current funding arrangements mean that we are just managing to sustain this project one year at a time with no certainty beyond April 2010.
