    Situation

Young people need help with offending behaviour and to manage the risk of re-offending. Young people can also (potentially) be victims of crime and need support. Our Support workers know from experience with clients and partner agencies that young people do not understand their rights and responsibilities and need support if arrested, in custody and resettling in the community. There are health and well-being needs. Those on the Sex Offender Register need supervision to adhere to conditions.

    Solution

We encourage and facilitate peer-to-peer support to establish positive behaviour and attitudes. A known risk factor in offending is estrangement and family conflict, we offer mediation. Those released from a custodial sentence have to make weekly contact with their Offender Managers for at least an hour. We work with Probation and hold meetings at our office, easier for those who are homeless. We act as an appropriate adult at the police station, accompany to court and write court reports.
