    Situation

Dramatherapy is a genuinely accessible form of direct therapy, capable of achieving significant and far reaching results with almost anyone. Even where a client is non-verbal, Roundabout’s Dramatherapy’s techniques are able to develop and expand communication. We work in schools, day centres and residential homes, ensuring that our projects are also fully accessible physically to the client groups involved. Most of our sessions are run by two Roundabout Dramatherapists, creating a dynamic and supportive process which has proved effective again and again over the last 22 years. In each project the Dramatherapists create a unique set of aims and objectives, in consultation with the clients and staff. To meet these aims and achieve the outcomes, they draw up a different session plan each week, based on the group’s ideas and feed-back. Roundabout runs 25-30 projects a year, working with over 300 individuals. Our work is highly valued by the host organisations, because we support their members, pupils and residents in tackling the underlying and immediate issues which are directly affecting them. Roundabout supports its Dramatherapists through weekly clinical supervision and regular team meetings. It also supports the projects through the administration of the work, liaising with centres, monitoring and evaluation, and fundraising.
