African Mothers Foundation International

Re-Usable Pad for a Village girl.

AMFI works mostly in rural areas of Zimbabwe, and townships in South Africa, DRC. We combine learning, mentorship and earning opportunities which offer girls and their families’ long-term solutions to poverty. We work hard to ensure girls access the education they are entitled to.

Due to menstrual challenges girls stay out of school in some cases this leads to school drop-outs. Menstruation is a sensitive and taboo issue to talk about openly mostly in the rural communities in Africa so girls do not know what to do and how to take care of themselves during that time of the month.

Create menstrual hygiene awareness through training teachers and women. Address the issue in the rural communities to prevent absenteeism and drop-outs caused by the lack of sanitary wear by helping the communities to learn how do design their own re-usable sanitary wear.
