BasicNeeds aims to provide access to mental health services to the Nomadic Pastoralists in the Rift Valley of Kenya.

Situation
Mental health services are largely unavailable in nomadic communities, due to hostile terrain, and cultural norms and practices. The project aims to give adults and young people the access to mental health services, using treatment, consequent stabilization and then support to earn a living as key routes to recovery.
Solution
BasicNeeds will work with local partners and will be involved in building the capacity of local medical staff to diagnose and treat mental health issues. It will also give people the opportunity to access diagnosis and treatment close to where they live.
