Many of the poorest cities in the world are ports – places with the highest infant mortality, shortest life expectancy and lowest income. Mercy Ships docks in these ports deploying volunteer professionals to provide world class care for people who don’t have a National Health Service to turn to Our newest hospital ship is self-contained, equipped with its own water, power, skilled volunteers and medical supplies. In this way Mercy Ships can side-step some of the basic and intractable problems facing other aid agencies – lack of reliable power, water, personnel and ways to deliver supplies – and make a lasting difference
