    Situation

Over the years, Shared Experience has become renowned for bringing literary classics to life in bold, imaginative ways and for championing imaginative new writing. The company’s unexpected loss of its core Arts Council funding (approx. £400,000 per annum) shocked the arts world when it became headline news in 2011: “It’s as if one of the theatre’s most beautiful children had been kicked in the teeth.” Frank Mc Guinness

    Solution

Over the past year Shared Experience has secured high level donations from individuals, grants from Trust & Foundations and held a series of fundraising events. This mixed ecology funding model is proving to be the key to ensuring the company can thrive in the long-term. For every project Shared Experience develops, it now seeks funding from a wide range of sources which support its commitment to producing and touring extraordinary theatre for the largest possible audience.
