There is a gap of support and lack of opportunity for young composers who have left college or university and who find themselves at difficult points in their careers, trying to gain commissions, profile and industry experiences. A vicious cycle exists. Commissions and high-profile performances only come to those established composers; the only way to achieve this status is through commissions and high-profile performances. Our project would develop emerging composers, filling this gap.
create opportunities for promising composers at the start of their career by invest in 2 new commissions linked to our programme of work per season offering; industry experience, working directly and intensively with professional musicians over time; skills development opportunities through workshops, seminars, webcasts; mentoring opportunities with experienced composers; high profile performances; using them as a resource, also commissioning them to create online toolkits for other learners.
