Situation
School Nº 232 Jujuy N. Argentina,1,300 m above sea level, had a well that dried up now they collect water with buckets from rivers several kilometers away which dry up in the summer. The children are all malnourished & empoverished , live at school from Monday to Friday & depend upon food grown in a school vegetable garden, without water in the summer for the garden they have no fresh food. The produce was shared by the local community. Without water the school & community is dying
Solution
Provision of a system of pipes, pumps & water cisterns will provide water for the dry summer month from a single river flowing at that time. Water will enable the malnourished school pupils & local community to grow fresh vegetables & plant fruit & nut trees. Many children walk from mountain adobe homes 2-3 hours to attend school over hills, rivers & streams & others live at school for 4 nights because their shanty homes are 6 or 7 hours away by mule.without water education is impossible.
