Blackberry Trout Face is an award winning play by Laurence Wilson commissioned by 20 Stories High. It tells the story of three siblings whose Mum is a Heroin user. Situation

The idea for this project stemmed from research done by 20 Stories High and Laurence Wilson. Within Liverpool there is a high rate of substance abuse amongst both Young People and Adults. Members of our Youth Theatre have highlighted that it is an issue for them at home with family members being involved. Add to this the difficultly all People interviewed talked about in regards to finances, relationships and communication.

    Solution

Using performance to tackle issues such as substance abuse, relationships and communication, we hope to encourage Young People to think before trying, speak out if they are suffering and to see what life might be like for someone else. With the Post-Show discussions and follow-up workshops we will engage in discussions with Young People and get them to creatively explore these topics. We will also signpost Young People to relevant partner organisations. All this raises awareness and gives hope.
