The PAAS Arts Across Scotland workshops and concerts events is a change actor and promotes social engagement with community participation in African arts and cultural activities. The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the 2012 cultural Olympiad across the UK are the context for this project.

Situation
This project is trying to contribute to the solution of the problem of declining or low participation in the arts especially of minority ethnic communities identified by the Scottish Arts Council Taking Part Survey 2008.
Solution
The project is a point of entry into the arts at cognitive and intellectual levels for audiences and new practitioners alike. This leads to increased knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of artistic work. Work is based on African aesthetic models which break down intellectual barriers and contribute to the building of a more inclusive society. Our programme of educational workshops offer additional informal but creative learning context for pupils and enhance their performance
