Our project for the Spring Term 2011 is that all of HIT's seven groups (An Infant School group, Two 6 - 12 year old groups, Three 13 - 18 year old groups and an adult group) come together to create a Musical Extravaganza. The aim is to get participants aged 4 to 40 years old working together.
It ran from 12:00 AM, 1 January 2011 to 12:00 AM, 1 April 2011
Registered Charity in England and Wales (1180955)
A lot of HIT's participants have learning and physical disabilities and to take part in a full scale musical experience is something that they may not have had the chance to do before. This project will offer some of the members a whole new skill set.
Bringing in specialist workshop leaders may help to discover hidden talents, and may help participants to express themselves in other ways using music, dance and movement. The participants will learn singing and vocal techniques which may help improve speech and communication. Using inclusive dance techniques will help to encourage participants with limited mobility to discover new ways of moving in a performance setting, which they may have thought was inaccessible to them before.
