Situation
As people lose their sight the visual landscape no longer provides external stimulus and enjoyment. The medium of radio becomes an ever more important means of staying in contact with the world around, becoming the prime source of news, entertainment, music & books. For visually impaired people an off the shelf radio is no longer a suitable option as it is not designed to be operated by people with limited vision, nor do standard sets provide easy accessibility to web-based audio content.
Solution
Our specially adapted Sonata sets are designed to be simple to use , have an audible programme guide & give access to over 9000 radio stations worldwide , all available web-based audio content which includes talking newspapers & books, podcasts, audio catalogues & talking magazines, features a bookmark facility & can be used wirelessly round the house. They can also be operated via a remote control which mimics the functions of the buttons on the main set. A customised play list can be set up.
