UK research has shown that nine out of ten women who stop breastfeeding before their baby is six weeks old would have liked to breastfeed for longer and that every year more than 300,000 women across the UK are not receiving the support or information they need. Being unable to breastfeed your baby as you wish can be devastating for some women.

GBSN run 7 support groups across Goucestershire reaching out to these women and offering the support, information and encouragement they need to achieve a successful breastfeeding relationship for as long as they wish. The GBSN peer supporters are amazing women, all from the local area, who give of their time and energy freely to support women in their infant feeding choices. In the last quarter alone, GBSN supported around 300 women from the local community to breastfeed their babies.
